No, you can only make a claim for non-refundable and non-transferable portions of your trip. A credit is considered a refund under this insurance.
Coverage is available for a travelling companion, defined as any person (up to a maximum of two people), other than a spouse or dependent children, who is sharing travel arrangements with you.
Pre-paid travel arrangements for you and your travelling companion need to be charged at the same time on your eligible CIBC card.
No. There is no trip length restriction for your trip interruption insurance; it continues to be in effect until midnight of your return date.

Once you make a claim, the claims assessors would determine the cash value of your trip, and this is the amount that would be eligible for reimbursement.

Car Rental Collision / Loss Damage Insurance covers you for vehicle loss or damage but does not include the contents of the vehicle. There is no coverage for third party liability, personal injury, damage to property, normal vehicle wear and tear or mechanical/electrical vehicle breakdown.

It is true that collision damage insurance is mandatory in some countries. In this case, should a loss occur, the rental agency will cover your loss according to the terms and conditions of their contract, subject to a deductible. Upon reviewing your claim, we may reimburse you up to the cost of the deductible.
Coverage for the rental vehicle cannot be extended for more than 48 consecutive days. If a rental period is longer than 48 days, no coverage is provided for that entire rental period.

Provided the full cost of the rental is charged to your eligible CIBC card, Car Rental Collision / Loss Damage Insurance covers you for theft, loss and damage, up to the actual cash value of the rental vehicle and for any rental agency loss of use charges. For example, any physical damage, vandalism, fire, theft, or damage to tires and windshields would be covered up to the full vehicle value.
This coverage has a rental period limit of 48 days and covers damage or theft of a rental vehicle up to the Manufacturer’s Suggested Retail Price outlined in your Certificate of Insurance.
Vehicles excluded from coverage include: vans, cargo vans, trucks, pick-up trucks, off-road vehicles, motorcycles and any vehicle, in its model year, over the Manufacturer’s Suggested Retail Price outlined in your Certificate of Insurance. The vehicles listed here is not a complete list of excluded vehicles. Please refer to your Certificate of Insurance for the full list of exclusions.
Provides coverage for an accidental death or dismemberment resulting from riding as a passenger on a common carrier (land, air, or water transport).
Covers you for the unexpected costs that arise from a delayed flight and lost, stolen or damaged baggage.
Lost or Stolen Baggage coverage provides reimbursement for your baggage and the personal property it contained, subject to the following exclusions: cameras and accessories, eye/sunglasses, animals, certain sporting equipment, securities, money, contact lenses, prosthetic devices, furs, tickets, valuable papers and documents.
Carry-on luggage and the property it contained is covered for up to $500 per insured person to a limit of $1,000 per claim ($1,000 per insured person to a maximum of $2,500 per claim for the Aerogold® Visa Infinite Privilege Card).
Payment is based on the actual replacement cost (if replaced), or actual cash value if not replaced.
Provided your bus fare was charged to your eligible CIBC card, Baggage Insurance coverage provides reimbursement of up to $500 per insured person, to a maximum of $1000 per claim for your lost luggage and its contents. ($1,000 per insured person to a maximum of $2,500 per claim for the CIBC Aerogold® Visa Infinite Privilege Card).
This coverage is in excess of any other insurance or compensation available to you. Please claim through the bus carrier first.
Flight Delay coverage provides reimbursement for reasonable living expenses, such as meals and accommodations, incurred during the period of your delayed flight or missed connection, up to a maximum limit of $500 provided the full fare for your flight was charged to your eligible CIBC card.
Your coverage also provides reimbursement for ground transportation and entertainment expenses, up to a maximum limit of $100 per insured person.
Flight Delay coverage provides reimbursement for reasonable living expenses such as meals and accommodations, up to a maximum limit of $500, provided the full fare for your flight was charged to your eligible CIBC card. Please retain your receipts and forward them to your insurer when you return home.
Flight Delay coverage provides reimbursement of ground transportation expenses directly to your hotel during the period of flight delay. This coverage is subject to a maximum limit of $100.
Provides an extension to the manufacturer's warranty and covers recently purchased lost, stolen or damaged items.
The Extended Protection benefit provides cardholders with an extension to the term of the original manufacturer’s warranty.
This extension is up to a maximum of one additional full year (two additional years for the CIBC Aeroplan® Visa Infinite Privilege Card), commencing at the expiry of the manufacturer’s original warranty term.
Please note, the manufacturer's warranty must be honoured in Canada or the U.S, and items must be charged to your eligible CIBC card.
The Purchase Security benefit provides worldwide coverage in the event of loss, theft or damage of qualified purchases charged to an eligible CIBC card.
If the item is stolen or damaged it may be replaced or repaired, or we may reimburse you up to the original cost of the item.
